Description
I have not been around here for quite some time now. 2007 did not start very good for me but things have been getting better...FINALLY!Anyways, I've been quite busy and this artwork, I actually finished it many weeks ago but haven't been able to upload it here or anywhere. I just did days ago at DeviantART. I will be busy again in a couple of minutes, so while I'm free, I decided to come here pretty quickly and update my gallery.
This science fiction style is something new for me. I'm actually working on a series of artworks depicting destruction, war, and stuff like that.
My objective was not to over paint the work (not make it look like a painting) and make it look as realistic as possible. I do hope I got it right and the lighting and the shadows as well. I spent a lot of time on details and painting some buildings in the background which eventually got lost while adding the explosion. To bring up the details of the model's hair I used a brush of a size 1, playing around with the opacity and avoiding as much as possible the use of the smudge brush. I also used the sharpen tool to bring up the details even more...I actually did that at the end.
The Tank was made up of three photos and I had to play around with the perspectives of each one of them to get the tank right.
It was fun and challenging to do an artwork of this style. Listening to music from films like The Island, Ghost Rider, 300, and Batman Begins really helped me out with this art piece.

My only crit would be to change some of the details in one of the buildings closer to the foreground. I could tell that you simply duplicated the one side and flipped it over to the other. It's a minor crit, but it would add just a bit more flavour. Brilliant work otherwise!!

Joe-Ayotte, well, I believe there are buildings that look exactly the same in many cities, however, I understand what you say.

for the buildings... well, in cities edifices are often the same, especially when thy faces in the same street, so I don't think is so bad the copy and past idea, even if it was only a shortcut
